Promiseland Preschool

Teachers: Bridget Higbie, Jennifer Brown, Kelly Pemperton

A Basic Need

In a day when the trials and temptations of life affect our youth at a younger and younger age, it is vital to begin at an early stage in life to establish a Christian foundation upon which their entire life can be built. The goal of the First Christian Church Promiseland Educational Program is to give young children that basis which will launch them into the rest of their lives with a solid Christian foundation that will only be found within the church.

This principle is not new. In the Old Testament we find that Gods people were instructed to begin to teach the message of God to their children at a very early age.

"Who is it he is trying to teach? To whom is he explaining his message? To children weaned from their milk to those just taken from the breast." Isaiah 28:9

"Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it."

Proverbs 22:6

"Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these." Mark 10:14

"These commands that I give you are to be upon your hearts. Teach them to your children. Talk about them when you sit at home, and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up."

Deuteronomy 6:6 & 7

About the Program

Early childhood should be a time of fun, warmth, security, exploring, and discovery. Younger children are creative and receptive. The FCC Promiseland Educational Program strives to nurture and encourage these qualities.

Planned within this framework, the curriculum, which is Christian based, includes sharing and conversation time, stories (both Christian and secular), songs, finger plays, creative art activities and crafts; games and other recreational activities, cooking, science and nature activities. The young person attending the FCC Promiseland Educational Program will learn shapes, colors, numbers, and letters. They will also enjoy every celebration on the Christian calendar along with birthdays and other special occasions.

Through this educational program, young children will be provided with a rich Christian environment for living, thinking, and learning. This will allow them to experience success at the present and give a solid Christian foundation to build upon the future.

In these activities and experiences the young children will grow in their spiritual, mental, physical, social, and emotional needs and help to develop basic concepts, skills, abilities, attitudes, and knowledge.

To learn the basic concepts of worship and the importance of knowing that God is One who is to be worshiped, the young children will attend special chapel services each Wednesday morning at 10:15 AM in the church auditorium along with other times on special days.

Due to the extensive and specialized nature of this program, children must be 4 years old and older to be admitted to this program. (Note: children who turn 4 during the school year can begin the program at that time.)

There are full day programs, half day programs, and even partial week programs for both full and half days.

Due to this program being offered daily and the need to defray the expenses of meals and other expenses, the cost is as follows*:

Full day - $17.00 per day

Half day - $12.00 per day

These expenses are exclusively used for the educational programs of the church. All financial reports are available upon request.
